Inspired by the essay "Women Who Run with the Wolves" by psychoanalyst Christina Pinkola Estes, the composition refers to the numerous tales, stories, and myths in the book to describe the Wild Woman, a figure representing the healthy, instinctual, and creative force within women, which has been repressed by society.
